TEACHING VACANCIES

Teacher of Art

The Teacher of Art is responsible to the Headteacher, Deputy Head Academic and Head of Creative Arts
for:

  1. The School Art curriculum from Years 5-8, meeting National Curriculum and ISEB guidelines and requirements.
  2. Teaching of Art as required in a creative and innovative way including a variety of creative mediums.
  3. Preparation of pupils for Scholarship (plus other Senior School entry as required).
  4. Raising the profile of Art and other creative mediums on the school curriculum.
  5. The introduction of new techniques to the study and teaching of Art and the dissemination of the same.
  6. Maintaining cross-curricular links between Art and other subjects across the curriculum.
  7. Annual review of Art Department Development Plan.
  8. Monitoring Art presentations displayed round the school.
  9. Departmental Budget: ordering resources through Procurement, DHA and Financial Controller.
  10. Monitoring conditions and number of Art resources.
  11. Ensuring supply of adequate and suitable teaching equipment for Art teachers.
  12. Care and maintenance and use of any Art machinery and equipment at school (pottery wheels etc)

Vacancies at Kenton College Preparatory School

  1. Attending directed meetings.
  2. Attending / leading IAPS and local Art curriculum meetings.
  3. Ensuring appropriate system for Assessment and Recording, including monitoring and evaluating tracking of pupils’ assessment data.
  4. Keeping Art Records of Achievement and Subject portfolio.
  5.  Sourcing and preparation of resistant materials, loading and firing kiln.
  6. Develop the use of ICT in Art where appropriate.
  7. The inclusion of Art information and news on the school’s website and weekly ‘KentonPost’ publication.
  8. To arrange trips appropriate to the curriculum and age of the pupils.
  9. To attend staff meetings, parent consultations as indicated in the calendar.
  10. Marking work regularly and providing meaningful and motivational feedback, in line with the School Feedback Policy
  11. Possessing excellent subject knowledge, as well as exceptional verbal and written
    communication skills.
  12. Helping to organise events such as Art Exhibitions, Art Competitions etc.
  13. To contribute to and attend events held throughout the year.

DEPUTY HEAD PASTORAL

The Deputy Head Pastoral is a member of the Senior Leadership Team of Kenton
College.
The Deputy Head Pastoral is accountable to the Headteacher.

Duties and responsibilities of the Deputy Head Pastoral include the following:
  •  Designated Safeguarding Lead – Level 3 trained.
  • To liaise with the Headteacher, Deputy DSL and Early Years Pastoral Lead on safeguarding matters.
  • To stand in for or represent the Headteacher or First Deputy Head when necessary or as directed.
  • To meet every half term with the Safeguarding Governor and report to the Board as and when required.
  • To attend such meetings of the Senior Leadership Team as are called by the Headteacher.
  • To lead school assemblies as directed (including the introduction of the half-termly value).
  • To channel staff concerns to the Headteacher, and receive staff concerns from the Headteacher.
  • To receive communications from staff as to their health and wellbeing as necessary and to organise the daily cover schedule for teaching staff.
  •  In conjunction with SLT, promote high standards of professionalism and teamwork among staff.
  • In conjunction with the Estate Manager, monitor the upkeep and use of grounds/facilities which directly affect the health/safety or safeguarding of pupils or wider school community.
  •  Input into the Induction Programme (and continued support) for new staff in conjunction witH Headteacher and other SLT members as appropriate.
  • Responsibility for planning the Senior School Wellbeing curriculum and monitoring its delivery and impact, liaising with the Head of Juniors and Head of Early Years to ensure progression.

  • To attend a weekly meeting with the Head of Juniors and Early Years concerning pastoral matters.
  • To manage the recording and reporting of issues and to analyse safeguarding data and patterns on CPOMS.
  • To record all serious sanctions, bullying allegations and other behavioural matters of note and to analyse data and patterns.
  • To monitor the progress of new pupils as they settle into Kenton.
  • Updating the Staff Handbook by making additions and alterations as necessary.
  • Responsibility for daily staff communication through notice boards e.g. staff room white board (and Tarmac whiteboard)
  • To be in charge of whole school behaviour management in conjunction with the Headteacher as may be required or as is necessary.
  • Oversee the support, effectiveness and efficiency of the Senior School Heads of Year and form tutors
  • To support the transition programme at the end of each academic year.
  • Co-ordinate the House competition and communicate results to the pupils and staff.
  • Deliver safeguarding and child protection/Prevent duty training to staff as required and mentor the HR manager to deliver the same to non-teaching staff.
  • Line-manage the School Doctor, Nurse and any external counsellor to ensure that practices and protocols are in-line with the school’s Wellbeing policy.
  • To organise the annual PASS testing for the whole school and to analyse the outcomes in liaison with the Headteacher, HoYs and form teachers, creating an action plan as necessary.
  • To attend Pupil Support Meetings and provide context and information as necessary.
  • To allocate Senior form teachers in liaison with the Headteacher and SLT and to oversee the process of class lists in collaboration with form teachers, HoYs and the Head of Juniors.
  • To deliver Parents In Partnership presentations in collaboration with the Headteacher and SLT.
  • To deliver staff CPD sessions as necessary.
  • To chair termly Heads of Year meetings with SLT.
  • To be a member of CPAN (Child Protection Advocacy Network).
