About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated P1 Teacher to deliver high-quality primary education in line with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and Ministry of Education standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in nurturing learners academically, socially, and emotionally by creating an engaging, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment. This role goes beyond classroom instruction — the P1 Teacher will actively contribute to students’ holistic development, collaborate with colleagues and parents, and support school-wide initiatives that enhance learning outcomes and character development.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Curriculum Delivery & Lesson Planning
  • Plan and deliver structured, engaging, and CBC-aligned lessons tailored to diverse learning needs. Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, and learning materials that support competency-based education and active learning.
  1. Student Assessment & Progress Tracking
  • Conduct continuous formative and summative assessments, maintain accurate academic records, and provide constructive feedback to learners and parents. Use assessment data to adjust instruction and support individual student growth.
  1. Classroom Management & Student Development
  • Create and maintain a positive, disciplined, and child-friendly learning environment. Foster learners’ social, emotional, and cognitive development through interactive and learner-centered teaching approaches.
  1. Parent & Staff Collaboration
  • Work closely with fellow teachers and school leadership to share best practices and improve learning outcomes. Engage parents through meetings and communication on learners’ progress, strengths, and areas for improvement.
  1. Curriculum Implementation & Resource Management
  • Effectively implement CBC guidelines in classroom practice. Develop, organize, and manage teaching and learning resources, including the use of digital tools where appropriate.
  1. Extracurricular Engagement
  • Support learners’ holistic growth by participating in and facilitating extracurricular and co-curricular activities, including project-based learning and mentorship.
  1. Professional Development & Compliance
  • Participate in professional development programs, CBC training, and school meetings. Ensure full compliance with Teachers Service Commission (TSC) regulations, Ministry of Education policies, and school procedures.

Requirements

Key Requirements

Academic Qualifications

  • Diploma in Education.
  • Primary Teachers Education (P1) Certificate (mandatory).
  • Valid Teachers Service Commission (TSC) license (mandatory).
  • CBC training certification.

Relevant Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in an ECDE environment.
  • Proven experience in mentoring teachers and coordinating early childhood programs.
  • Familiarity with CBC curriculum implementation and Ministry of Education requirements.

Technical and Functional Skills

  • Proficiency in developing CBC-aligned lesson plans, schemes of work, and assessments.
  • Familiarity with digital teaching tools and e-learning platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of CBC requirements, teaching methodologies, and assessment strategies.
  • Competence in tracking and analyzing student progress data.
  • Classroom management and behavior guidance skills.
  • Time management and organizational skills for planning and executing lessons.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Problem-solving skills for addressing student learning challenges and classroom issues.
