The position

The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu (AKHK) is an Institution of the Aga Khan Health Service, Kenya, which is an Agency of the Aga Khan Development Network.

The Hospital is part of a network of health facilities, which includes Hospitals and Outreach Health Facilities across East Africa.

The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu is in an exciting growth phase and has attained acknowledgment of its quality by achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification, ISO 15189:2022 accreditation for laboratory services, Safe Care level 5 accreditation and is at advanced stage of attaining Joint Commission International Accreditation

The Hospital is seeking to attract interested and qualified candidates to fill the following positions within the Nutrition Department:

NUTRITIONIST (LOCUM)

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY
Reporting to the Hospital Nutritionist, the successful candidate will ensure quality, efficient and timely therapeutic interventions to patients in collaboration with the caregivers in order to avert malnutrition, maintain good nutritional status, enhance recovery and prevent complications that would result due to poor nutrition.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Screening of patients’ nutritional needs
  • Giving nutrition education/counseling
  • Giving the necessary therapeutic interventions
  • Guiding the other clinical team on the plan of care and how to go about it.
  • Educating catering staff on preparation and service of therapeutic diets.

The requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from a recognized institution.
  • Two (2) years’ working experience in a similar position.
  • Registered and licensed by the KNDI.
  • Member of professional body.
  •  Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
