Art & Design Teacher (Nairobi)
The Aga Khan Education Service, Kenya (AKES, Kenya) operates 5 schools in various cities in Kenya and provides nursery to senior secondary education in both national and international curricula.
It is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of private development agencies working to improve living conditions and opportunities for people of all faiths and origins in specific regions of the developing world. We are seeking to fill the below post within at The Aga Khan Primary School, Kisumu (AKPSK) which offers Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) from Grade 1 to Grade 9. Position: Art & Design Teacher.
Role Summary.
- To provide learning activities appropriate to the learner’s in order to develop an interest in and ability for creative expression.
- To develop an understanding and appreciation of art in each learner.
Key Responsibilities
Teach Art & Design theory, and practical techniques and preparing learners for examinations.
Management of Learning, Teaching and Resources. Discuss various artistic approaches and traditions and encourage students to express themselves artistically.
Assign art projects to students, grade finished art projects, conduct art exams and maintain records of the students’ progress.
Organize art exhibitions to display the artworks of students and help them develop their art portfolios.
Support school administration in developing art programs.
Teach Art and Design and any other subject according to the school and Ministry of Education requirements.
Potential to support school in attending internal and external Art and Design competitions.
Be in a position to develop programs to meet the needs, abilities and interests of learners using a range of instructional techniques and media
Physical Education Teacher (Dhaka)
The Aga Khan Academies is looking for a Physical and Health Education Teacher to empower students to understand and appreciate the value of being physically active and to develop the motivation for making healthy life choices.
To provide students with learning experiences that are engaging, relevant, challenging and significant through enabling enquiry, based on the beliefs and values of the IB within the context of the mission and ethos of the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka.
To ensure the students make progress as a result of their learning, to monitor this progress and plan interventions, as necessary, to maximise each student’s achievements.
Main responsibilities :
- Planning and implementing a variety of learning engagements that promote inquiry, creativity and critical thinking.
- Providing students with learning experiences that are individually differentiated to accommodate a range of abilities and learning styles.
- Effective teaching across the IB PYP programmes. Contributing to the collaborative planning of the IB curriculum.
- Integrating the Aga Khan Strands into the teaching and learning programmes and explicitly making connections between the curriculum and the strands in lessons and in planning of units.
- Authentically assessing, recording, tracking and reporting on the progress of all students, using a range of monitoring and assessment strategies.
- Developing learning environments as inviting, nurturing and interactive spaces through the appropriate use, storage and care of displays, resources and students’ work.
- Communicating necessary programme information to all stakeholders. Actively and collaboratively participating in the life of the Academy as a whole, in and out of normal school hours, for instance contributing to the development of enrichment and residential experiences for students.
- Displaying and modelling professionalism. Participating actively in the Appraisal for Growth process as a member of the Academy’s professional learning community.
- Taking proactive role with year level responsibilities for individual units. Providing sufficient support for non-specialists in the team.
- Willingness to supervise students for MYP exhibition and Personal Projects of MYP. Willingness to attend fieldtrips or educational visits and to help organize these as appropriate.
- Monitoring Sports facilities and Ensure that they are always in workable conditions and serviced and repaired where necessary. Able to organize annual sports meet
Humanities Teacher (Bangladesh)
Purpose:
- To build an innovative MYP and DP curriculum, which prepares students from Bangladesh to be ethical and pluralistic leaders for their communities.
- To provide students with learning experiences that are engaging, relevant, challenging and significant through enabling inquiry, based on the beliefs and values of the IB within the context of the mission and ethos of the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka.
- To ensure that students make progress as a result of their learning, to monitor this progress and plan interventions, as necessary, to maximise each student’s achievements.
Main responsibilities:
- Planning and implementing a variety of learning engagements that promote inquiry, creativity and critical thinking.
- Providing students with learning experiences that are differentiated to accommodate a range of abilities.
- Being responsible for the pastoral care of the students including maintaining records of individual students.
- Use data to inform decisions about students’ learning.
- Developing learning environments as inviting, nurturing and interactive through the appropriate use, storage and care of displays, resources and students’ work.
- Communicating necessary programme information to all stakeholders.
- Actively and collaboratively participating in the life of the Academy as a whole, including some evening and/or weekend activities in the residential programme
- Displaying and modelling professionalism. Participating in and contributing to the Academy’s Professional Development programmes.
