The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) is a State Corporation established by the Statistics Act, 2006, for the collection, compilation, analysis, publication and dissemination of statistical information, and the coordination of the national statistical system.

It is the principal agency of the Government for collecting, analyzing and disseminating statistical data in Kenya and the custodian of official statistical information

The following positions are open at the KNBS

Statistical Assistants
Key Responsibilities

  1. Attending all the training sessions whenever called upon to enable acquisition of skills required for data collection
  2. Locating sampled/targeted households/facilities/business enterprises with the assistance of the Supervisor to collect the required information;
  3. Conducting interviews to the respondents and completing the questionnaire(s);
  4. Interviewing and capturing interview responses using a computer-aided personal interview (CAPI);
  5. Uploading data from all completed questionnaires to the KNBS dedicated Server;
  6. Assisting the Supervisor in conducting focused group discussions/key informant interviews;
  7. Undertaking callbacks/re-visits to undertake/finalize postponed interviews;
  8. Maintaining confidentiality of the interviews and the data collected;
  9. Preparing debriefing notes for the Supervisor;
  10. Undertaking any other duties lawfully assigned by the Supervisor.

Minimum requirements

  1. Must be a Kenyan citizen with a National Identity card ;
  2. Should have completed at least secondary level of education, with a minimum grade of C or its equivalent;
  3. Should possess good communication skills;
  4. Should be a team player.
