ABOUT
Hillcrest International Schools is a leading British Curriculum School located in Nairobi, Kenya, with an established status in the region’s educational sphere.
It comprises three schools; Hillcrest Early Years, Hillcrest Preparatory and Hillcrest Secondary.Â
1. Preparatory School Teacher of English
The role in summary:
The Preparatory School runs from Early Years to Year 8 and has a student population of about 250.
This is a vibrant community, whose students, parents and teachers work collaboratively within an atmosphere of mutual respect.
The successful candidate will teach English mostly but not limited to Years 6 to 8, and will be responsible for student outcomes, curriculum delivery, and stimulate the students’ curiosity to learn.
The department follows the British National Curriculum (BNC) and runs Common Entrance Examination.
Person Specification (Qualifications)
- Degree or equivalent in English
- Qualified teacher status.
- Â Recent and relevant professional development.
- Post graduate qualifications in teaching subject
Experience
• Must have taught BNC English for at least 2 years
• Teaching that is good or better which impacts positively on student progress.
• A broad knowledge of relevant curriculum areas at different Key Stages including a sound understanding of assessment and monitoring.
• Experience of the use of data tracking and target setting to raise attainment and identify under performance.
• An understanding and appreciation of the value of interesting and stimulating display and other motivational materials.
• To be able to use ICT effectively.
2. Secondary Sport Coach
We invite qualified candidates to apply for the role of Sports Coach in the secondary school, for September 2022.
The successful candidate will be a sportsperson of proven ability, who will provide effective coaching to students across the Key Stages.
S/He will work closely with the members of the Sports Department and assist with the running and implementation of the school’s sports programme and provision, ensuring a cohesive and broad-minded approach to school sport.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in sports related or education related field
- Coaching qualifications preferably in Athletics, Rugby, Hockey or Football.
- Minimum one year of demonstrated high level coaching experience. experience coaching at secondary school level will be an added advantage.
- Able to effectively use ICT.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication, influencing and motivational skills.
- Problem solving and initiative.
- Courtesy and professionalism with all stakeholders
