The Aga Khan Academy Nairobi is operated by Aga Khan Education Service Kenya (AKESK), a non-profit organization, with close to a hundred years’ experience operating schools in Kenya. Our first formal schools were opened in 1918, and AKESK currently operates 11 schools in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu and Eldoret, serving close to 5,000 students with a quality, affordable education.

Kiswahili / French Teacher

Role Summary

The French/Kiswahili teacher plays a pivotal role in fostering language learning as a vehicle for thought, reflection, self-expression, and cross-disciplinary integration. Through their teaching, students will gain an appreciation of the nature of language and its function as a tool for linguistic integration and cultural understanding. By emphasizing social and cultural components, the teacher will help students build critical literacy and communication skills essential for global citizenship.

The teacher will employ effective teamwork and collaboration to create a dynamic, inclusive learning environment. Differentiation strategies will be used to meet the diverse needs of learners and teaching practices will be guided by formative and summative assessments to ensure optimal outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in the respective field
TSC Certification
5 years of IB Middle Years’ Programme and/or IB Diploma outstanding teaching experience as well as previous Middle Years’ Programme experience.

IRE/Kiswahili Teacher

The Aga Khan Education Service, Kenya (AKES, Kenya) operates 5 schools in various cities in Kenya and provides nursery to senior secondary education in both national and international curricula. It is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of private development agencies working to improve living conditions and opportunities for people of all faiths and origins in specific regions of the developing world.

We are seeking to fill the below post within our establishment. The position holder will be based at our High School Mombasa.
Role Summary.

Provide an appropriately broad, balanced and differentiated learning experience for students, in accordance with the national curriculum, aims of the school and curriculum policies.
Ensure commitment to ethos and set of values in order to secure high quality learning, effective use of resources and improvement in standards of learning and achievement for all students.
To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Must possess Bachelor’s Degree in Education or BA/BSc with P.G.D.E.
At least 3 years’ teaching experience.
Must be registered with Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
Be conversant with the new Competency Based Curriculum.
Working knowledge of MS – office computer applications.

Learning Support Teacher

Role Summary.
The Learning Support Teacher will support teachers in designing and implementing inclusion strategy, implementing Individual Education Plans in and out of class, and facilitating continuous implementation of CBC Curriculum. The incumbent will also assist the teachers to model, team-teach and evaluate child-centred, inquiry-based learning within the classrooms.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Education (Special Needs) from a recognized university.
Must be registered with TSC.
Specialized courses in inclusive education (an added advantage)
Practical experience in diverse learning environments
Experience working with students with a range of learning differences.
At least 1-2 years’ learning support teaching experience.
Be conversant with the new Competency Based Curriculum.
